Revenue-Based Financing

Capital structured around business receipts can align funding with sales activity. The agreement—not the product label—determines whether remittances actually fluctuate with revenue.

Product Overview

Capital with a clear purpose

Companies with documentable recurring revenue and a specific plan for deploying capital without compromising ordinary operating expenses.

Synergy Capital helps business owners explore financing options and understand the structure presented. Structures vary; some are receivables-based and are not traditional loans. Availability, amounts, pricing, and terms depend on underwriting and the funder’s approval and are not guaranteed.

Select programs use an owner performance guarantee (also called a validity or performance guaranty) rather than a full personal guarantee of repayment. It generally covers the owner’s representations and covenants under the agreement—not an absolute promise to repay if ordinary business receipts decline. Availability is subject to qualification and underwriting.

01

How it works

Revenue-based financing provides capital in exchange for an agreed share or scheduled delivery of future receipts. The term is often used interchangeably with merchant cash advance, but structures vary by funder and contract.

02

Repayment

Payments may be a percentage of receipts or fixed ACH debits subject to a reconciliation right. Review the reporting duties, true-up timing, and what happens during a slow period. Do not assume payments fall automatically when sales fall.

03

Cost

Compare the amount received, the total to be delivered, fees, and the anticipated duration. A higher-speed structure can have a meaningfully different annualized cost from a longer-term loan, even when the dollar fee looks manageable.

Common business uses

A sound use of proceeds connects the financing to a specific operating need and a credible repayment plan.

Seasonal preparation

Purchase inventory or add temporary staffing ahead of a documented busy period.

Marketing with measurable intent

Finance a campaign with a budget and a method for evaluating its return.

Fulfill new demand

Cover supplies or labor tied to an order, with the contract and payment timing in view.

What to review in the agreement

These questions help you compare actual obligations, not just headline amounts. Request the final documents and take time to review them before signing.
