What You Need to Apply

Prepare a Complete, Credible Application

Know which details and documents are commonly requested, how to check your figures, and how to evaluate the proposed payment before you apply.

Start With Accuracy

A practical preparation checklist

Requirements vary by financing product, funder, amount, and business profile. No universal credit-score, revenue, or time-in-business threshold guarantees approval. The following records are commonly requested; your checklist may differ.

Business and ownership details

Gather current information and make sure names and figures agree across the application and supporting records.

Business profile

  • Legal name, DBA, address, and formation details
  • Employer Identification Number and ownership structure
  • Business start date and industry description
  • Business bank account and contact information

Funding request

  • Amount requested and specific use of proceeds
  • Date the funds are needed
  • Existing business financing and payment obligations
  • A straightforward explanation of the repayment plan

Owner information

  • Names and ownership percentages
  • Government-issued identification when requested
  • Owner contact and address information
  • Soft credit inquiry on apply (does not affect score); a funding partner may later run a hard inquiry
Guarantees

Performance guarantee options

Select programs use an owner performance guarantee rather than a full personal guarantee of repayment. That generally means the owner stands behind representations and covenants in the agreement (for example, accurate information and not diverting receivables), not an absolute personal promise to repay if ordinary receipts decline. Availability is subject to qualification and underwriting. Always read the guaranty language in the final agreement before signing.

Financial Records

Documents that may be requested

Recent, complete statements are preferable to screenshots or partial months. Provide every page, including blank pages, and avoid altering source documents.

Read the application guide →
  • Recent business bank statements; the number of months varies
  • Business tax returns and year-to-date financial statements when required
  • Profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet
  • Accounts-receivable and accounts-payable aging for relevant products
  • Debt schedule with balances, payments, and creditors
  • Vendor quote or purchase agreement for equipment or property
  • Lease, contracts, or purchase orders when relevant to the request
  • Additional SBA-specific forms and owner documentation for SBA-backed loans

Review your own application first

These checks can reveal questions to resolve before a funder asks them.

Reconcile the figures

Compare stated revenue with bank deposits and financial statements. Explain non-revenue transfers so they are not mistaken for sales.

Map the payment

Add the proposed daily, weekly, or monthly payment to a conservative cash-flow forecast. Include existing obligations and seasonal variation.

Explain anomalies

Be ready to discuss negative-balance days, returned payments, unusual deposits, ownership changes, or a temporary decline in revenue.

Ready when you are

Submitting an application does not obligate you to accept financing. Final eligibility and terms are subject to review and approval.
