Portland General Electric claimed a milestone on Wednesday, announcing that its “Electric Avenue” charging stations in downtown Portland had powered more than 1 million miles of electric vehicle travel since they opened there in 2015.

Those are truly emissions-free miles, too: The stations, with four “quick-chargers” that can add 50 or more miles of travel in around 20 minutes, are powered by 100 percent renewable energy, the utility noted.
