The Birmingham City Council is considering an ordinance that would allow low-speed transportation providers – such as golf cart cabs – to operate in designated districts within the Magic City.

Councilors discussed the ordinance last week, but delayed the item for four weeks to set a public hearing.

The ordinance would open the door for companies like Joyride, which operates golf-cart-based cabs and tours in Tuscaloosa, Nashville, Knoxville and other Southern metros.
