Bill Stahlman was a sophomore at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 2003 when he saw an ad for an internship at America’s Central Port. Then known as Tri-City Regional Port District, the port had recently taken over the 752-acre Charles Melvin Price Support Center Army Base, and officials were ready to jump-start renovations. Stahlman was hired immediately and was working 35 hours a week before graduating with a degree in civil engineering.
