Alaska Air Group Inc. is handing out $100 million in bonuses to its employees Friday, two days after the airline reported record fourth-quarter and full-year profits.

The payout equals more than 8 percent of their 2016 annual pay for most employees, a payout equal to about an additional month’s pay, Alaska Air (NYSE: ALK) said.

Alaska and Horizon Air employees in the Seattle area shared $62 million, more than 60 percent of the total. Much of that money will be spent in the Puget Sound region economy.
