Four construction firms have entered bids for the Southwest light-rail line, a milestone for the state’s largest-ever public infrastructure project.

The Star Tribune reports on the bids, which range in cost between $797 million to $1.08 billion. The Metropolitan Council, which is overseeing the project, didn’t say how the bids fell into the estimated budget for the total project, which is expected to cost $1.9 billion.
