It made sense to test drive the 2017 Range Rover HSE in the Executive Lane, the Business Journal’s new regular feature focused on luxury vehicles.

The Range Rover line, owned by United Kingdom-based Jaguar Land Rover Ltd., is increasingly popular. The company sold 1,414 Range Rovers in the United States last month, more than doubling the 672 it sold five years ago in July 2012.

In 2011, Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, ramped up production in preparation for a refresh of the brand.
