Ousted former CEO Travis Kalanick will not be back to lead the company, Uber Technologies Inc.’s chairman says, despite reports that Kalanick has been trying to regain control of the ride-hailing giant.
“Travis is not returning as CEO,” Garrett Camp, also a co-founder like Kalanick, wrote Monday in a staff email reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “We are committed to hiring a new world-class CEO to lead Uber … Uber must evolve and mature as we improve our culture and practices.”
