Kansas City voters cast a total of 3,642 ballots in an election to extend the streetcar south.

Valerie Hartman, a public information officer with the 16th Judicial Circuit Court, revealed the final tally Thursday morning. She said preliminary results are expected around Friday afternoon.

Voters requested 5,752 ballots for the mail-in election, which ended Monday. The vote would create a transportation development district (TDD) that would be used to raise a portion of the needed funds for the extension.
