Greensboro Department of Transportation Director Adam Fischer said Wednesday that a $13.3 million streetscape project designed to revamp a 1.7-mile section of Gate City Boulevard is almost finished and has already drastically improved the look of an area that is considered a gateway to the city.

The project, which began in 2015 by Greensboro-based Sharpe Bros., is now “99 percent complete,” said Fischer, adding that the roadway has been revamped with new streetlights, wider sidewalks and landscaping.…
