Ascension Healthcare on Wednesday named Tom VanOsdol president and CEO of its Jackson, Fla.-based subsidiary St. Vincent’s HealthCare.

VanOsdol has been the interim CEO since January, when he took over for Dr. Mike Schatzlein. He will also serve as senior vice president of Ascension, the largest not-for-profit health system in the country with 141 hospitals, and Jacksonville Ministry Market executive. St. Vincent’s includes three hospitals and dozens of healthcare facilities that employ more than 5,000 workers.

VanOsdol joined St. Vincent’s in 2015 as COO and began his Ascension career in 1990 as a speech-language pathologist at the Ascension hospital in Anderson, Ind.

VanOsdol earned a master’s in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s in speech-language pathology from Ball State University.
