An internal email from an a top executive at Uber Technologies unsealed this week in a trade secret case brought by Google says that hiring a star engineer could save the company as much as a year on development of its self-driving program.
The email was written by Uber’s director of its Advanced Technologies Center, John Bares, and is now part of the evidence Google’s Waymo unit is presenting in a trade secrets case centered around the hiring of its former engineer, Anthony Levandowski.
