Sales tax bill would end Caltrain’s dependence on county contributions

SB 797 would authorize a process — including a public referendum in Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties, which Caltrain serves — to enact a permanent one-eighth-cent sales tax for improvements and operations.
