News that e-commerce giant Amazon.com is buying grocery store Whole Foods Market sent grocery stocks reeling on Friday.

Shares of large grocery chains dropped pre-market following the news.

Kroger sank nearly 11 percent before the bell. Supervalu dropped 4.3 percent while Costco dropped 2.7 percent. Sprouts Farmers sank 8.6 percent.

Discount retailers Target and Wal-Mart also fell after the deal’s announcement. Target was down 7 percent while Wal-Mart was down 5.5 percent.
