Can-Am continues its run to expand the lineup of utility vehicles for 2018. Topping the list is the new 172 hp (you read that right) Maverick X3 Turbo R Model. This super sport side-by-side can to from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. There’s also the 120 hp Maverick X3 Turbo. The vehicles are offered in two-, and four-passenger configurations. The Defender family gets the Defender Max HD8 with a starting price of $12, 3998 – and is called a point-of-entry machine by the company. The 2018 Defender Max Cab HD10 gets enhanced ground clearance, arched A-arms, and a greater footprint and an integrated heater system. For ATVs, Can-Am brings back the Outlander X xc 1000R with either a Rotax V-Twin 650 or 850 engine. The line includes a range of options. Check out the complete Can-Am line for 2018.

As part of the deal for ChemChina to acquire Syngenta, products from Adama Agricultural Solutions had to be spun out and Amvac Chemical Corporation, makers of products designed for their innovative delivery system, is the new acquirer. The products picked up include abamectin insecticide, chlorothalonil fungicide and paraquat herbicide, all successful post-patent products. In the company release about the acquisition, Amvac noted that these products will increase full-year sales by up to 15%. Amvac acquired the tradenames too so familiar names like Parazone, Equus, Abba and Borrada in their various formulations will remain in the market. Learn more at the Amvac website.

Lanco Manufacturing has rolled out four new high-output spreaders to meet the needs of mid-size and small farmer markets. These versatile spreaders are able to spread lime, litter, bio-solids, pen pack, horse manure and more without changing attachments. The new models join three original machines with hopper capacities ranging from 700 to 1,000 cubic feet. The two new mid-size machines have a hopper capacity from 315 to 385 cubic feet, while the two smaller size machines have capacities from 180 to 240 cubic feet. The mid-size high-output spreaders work with 150-hp and higher tractors; the smaller machines can work with tractors ranging up to 80 hp. Check out their website for more information.

The arrival of both Roundup Ready 2 Xtend and the Enlist system on the market brings the need for proper formulations to work with new-tech dicamba and 2,4-D products. Brandt has announced that 11 of its formulations have been approved for tank mixing with the new tools. the approved products include four nutritional formulations and seven adjuvants that have been developed by Brandt and tested by the herbicide makers following protocols and requirements set by EPA. The first foliar nutrition product is Smart Quatro with macro and micronutrients for crop production. The product has been approved for use with BASF Engenia and Dow Enlist Duo with Colex-D. Red Wing Software has released version 11 for all CenterPoint products including its products for agriculture. The update brings along several new features and more than 150 changes that span the company’s entire line. For ag, the reporting options have been updated to meet the latest Farm Financial Accounting Standards Council updates. Rising interest drip irrigation for row crop production has one stumbling block – upfront investment. Netafim, in an agreement with DLL, a subsidiary of Rabobank, has a new financial solution for farmers interested in investing in the technology. The new program provides financing options for farmers considering the investment with what Netafim calls “simple and straightforward options.” This will, however, be the industry’s first, and only, end-to-end financing program for complete drip irrigation systems. Kuhn wants to give away equipment, as part of a contest. Recently the company announced that Kaitlyn Basehoar, Littlestown, Penn., was the first winner in the company’s Golden Giveaway and she took the Model GMD 280 mower. The company notes that her entry was drawn from thousands received in the first half of 2017. The program celebrates the company’s 50th anniversary and the Golden Giveaway will continue in the second half of the year. The second entry pool for the Kuhn Model GMD 280 opens in July and closes in October. The winner will receive either the GMD 280 disk mower, or $10,000 tward the purchase of a higher-priced GMD or FC machine.
