The Garden Parkway bridge and toll road may be dead, but some Gaston County residents hope that a bridge across the Catawba River to Charlotte is very much alive and well.
Belmont Mayor Charlie Martin believes development of the River District in western Mecklenburg County may be the next opportunity for Gaston residents to lobby for a bridge, which could bring increased development and population to an area of the county known as the “Peninsula.”
