Driving is about to get easier for many Triad residents. A whole lot easier. A new six-mile stretch of Interstate 73 from N.C. 68 to U.S. 220 opens to traffic today, in a move that state transportation officials say will improve economic development by improving connections to Oak Ridge, Summerfield, Colfax and all points north through Guilford and western Rockingham counties.
