Pelham Transportation, a privately held charter transportation firm based in Reidsville, started off with a bus equipped with a wheelchair. The company’s first customer was a “gentleman whose wife said he’d never been out of the house,” recalls Barbara DeJournette, vice president of the company founded in 2004.
“After that, we started getting requests for family trips, funerals — you name it,” she said.
