Michael Baker International pioneered the use of drones to inspect runway conditions at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Michael Baker, a Pittsburgh-based engineering, planning and consulting firm, is partnering with the world’s busiest airport on a pavement evaluation project. It opted to use unmanned aerial systems, or drones, a method that took half the time of the traditional approach of manually photographing the runway, presenting time and cost savings.
