A bill aimed at repurposing the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority to make it more effective cleared its final committee stop in the Senate Tuesday, but it’s not entirely what supporters wanted.
A highly amended committee substitute for Senate Bill 1672 sponsored by Sen. Jack Latvala (R-Clearwater) would change “transportation” to “transit” in the agency’s name and require a series of benchmarks aimed at planning better regional connectivity.
