The Marietta-based highway contractor replacing the collapsed Interstate 85 bridge will make some extra money if it finishes the job ahead of schedule.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Wednesday it will offer C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. an additional $1.5 million if the project is completed by May 25. The contractor will receive $2 million if the work is done by May 21, plus an additional $200,000 for each day the job is finished before May 21.
