Phoenix-based trucking companies Swift Transportation Inc. and Knight Transportation Inc. saw their stocks jump Monday after they announced a $6 billion merger.

On Monday, Swift (NYSE: SWFT) closed up 23.77 percent at $24.77. Knight (NYSE: KNX) was up 13.38 percent at $34.75, according to Google Finance. Investors and traders bought and sold a combined 44 million shares of the two Arizona companies.
