The company working to create a new type of ultra-fast transportation loop connecting Chicago to Pittsburgh – through Columbus – says it can be ready in as soon as five years.

Though merely a vision for now, the “hyperloop” project would connect O’Hare International Airport in Chicago with Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, extending east to Pittsburgh.

The 488-mile tube-based trip from Chicago to Columbus to Pittsburgh would take 47 minutes.
