If you thought this week’s traffic in Atlanta was bad because of last week’s I-85 bridge collapse, wait until next week.

With the end of spring break, traffic volume in the metro area is expected to increase by as much as 20 percent starting Monday. As a result, average travel times could go up by at least 30 percent by lowering the average speed on local roads.

In light of those forecasts, the Georgia Department of Transportation is urging motorists to consider other commuting alternatives.
