North Raleigh’s Six Forks Corridor is due for a revamp, officials say.
The 2.3-mile stretch from Lynn Road to I-440 sees between 29,000 and 28,000 vehicles per day, with varying lane counts, right-of-way lengths, inconsistent intersection spacing and two different speed limits. Its crash rate – nearly 2.7 times the state average – doesn’t surprise the commuters who hit the stretch every day to get to I-440 and downtown.
