According to a brief piece in The Economist, Uber’s chief executive officer, Travis Kalanick, made the decision because of the company’s “bad publicity about its business ethics” and the fact that Uber “also lost its legal case against new rules in London requiring minicab drivers to speak and write basic English.” The company had stated that “33,000 of its drivers”…
