Honolulu officials have decided to start a new procurement process for the construction contract of the rail project’s final stretch.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that new Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation executive director Andrew Robbins said the decision could save cost and time.

He added that last month’s decision is also providing an opportunity for the city to enter into public-private partnerships, which could eventually ease the burden on taxpayers.
