Hawaii lawmakers have reached a tentative deal to solve the funding shortfall of Honolulu’s rail project.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser on Thursday reported the tentative deal includes raising the state’s transient accommodations tax and extending Oahu’s surcharge of the general excise tax for another three to four years.

The paper, which cited sources familiar with the discussions, said the plan includes raising the T.A.T. by one percent for more than 10 years to help fund the over-budget project.
