Elon Musk’s claims about getting “verbal approval” to build an underground hyperloop on the East Coast may have been met with skepticism, but he does have the official go-ahead to start digging closer to home.

In a 4-1 vote, the City Council in Hawthorne, California has given Musk and his team the OK to extend the tunnel they’ve started digging in an old SpaceX parking lot past the aerospace company’s property line.
