Interstate 65 will soon be easier to travel in Shelby County.

The Alabaster City Council has approved the widening of a section of I-65, according to the Shelby County Reporter.

The city is allowing the Alabama Department of Transportation to widen I-65 to six lanes between Pelham and Alabaster at exit 238. The project will cost approximately $52.8 million – $42.6 million of which will come from the federal government and $10.2 million will come from the state government and local sources.
