President Donald Trump on Monday said the United States will stay engaged in the 16-year-old war in Afghanistan, against his “original instinct” to pull American troops out of the country.

But in a major address to the nation, the president did not detail how many more U.S. soldiers he would put in the fight or what he felt it would take for the U.S. to achieve victory in its longest war ever.
