Catalan emergency services said on Twitter that people in Cambrils, which is on the coast, should “stay home, stay safe.”

On Thursday, a van drove into pedestrians in the center of Barcelona, killing and injuring several people.

The terror attack killed at least 13 people and injured at least 100 others, the interior ministry said in its most recent press conference. Of the wounded, the ministry said 15 people had sustained serious injuries.

The van jumped the sidewalk around 5:30 p.m. local time in the vicinity of the city’s historic Las Ramblas pedestrian mall, a top tourist destination.

Local authorities said earlier they arrested two people in connection with the attack. They later added that neither detainee is the suspected driver of the van.
